Sweetie Pie Bows now has 103 fans on Facebook! Most are my Facebook friends, but there are a lot of fans whom I don't know! Very exciting!
In 2009, I had 15 online orders. My goal for 2010 is 16 online orders...with two orders yesterday and another two orders today, I'm up to 10 orders for 2010 already! Perhaps I should up my goal.... :o)

I've had a few friends encourage me to make a Facebook page for Sweetie Pie Bows...I've been dragging my feet with that. It just seemed like a lot of upkeep...I already have to keep up with my personal Facebook page and this blog...not to mention making bows and taking care of the house, two munchkins and three dogs...
I did it this morning. I made the Facebook page. It's wasn't as much work as I thought it would be and it probably won't be as much work to keep up with it as I think it will be. I should have done it months ago. In less than 24 hours, Sweetie Pie Bows has 80 fans! Woo hoo! Welcome Fans! :o)

Hot Seller!

I made this Double Layer bow for my daughter and I've sold several since I posted the new Double Layer style. The top layer is the White with Pink Flowers wide ribbon and the bottom layer is White with Bright Pink Stripe...it's not pictured in the available print ribbon, I have the White with Light Pink pictured and will add the Bright Pink, as well as a bunch of other prints I just got, soon.

New Stuff!

You may (or may not) have noticed that the Cupcake Bow is back in stock! It was a hot seller both online and at craft shows and suddenly, I couldn't get the ribbon anymore! Horrors! All is well now, I found more. I also have a new cupcake bow in the Birthday line. A super cute knot bow.

In addition to the changes to the Birthday line, I have two new bow styles: the Corker ($4 each) and the Double Layer ($3 each). The Corker can only use solid colors, but you can choose up to nine colors. You also have the option to add a rhinestone to the middle of the Corker Bow for no extra charge. With the Double Layer, you can use any colors/patterns you want. The sky is the limit! Choose a wide ribbon for the top layer and choose any color or pattern thin ribbon for the bottom layer.

I have a new Easter Bunny Bow in the Double Layer design. If you'd like though, I can make an Easter Bunny in a regular wide bow too. I'm working on a Double Layer 4th of July Bow. Stay tuned... :o)

Corker Bows

I've been playing around with a new style of bow (they'll be available for purchase online soon). They're a little bigger than the knot bow, measuring at 3 inches across, so they probably wouldn't be suitable for tiny babies. They're a little heavier than the knot bow as well.

The corker will only be available in SOLID colors. Colors can still be mixed...up to 9 colors if you want.

I can't use the print ribbons since the print fades in the curling process. I've tried to curl the woven patterned ribbon...some work, some don't, so I'll just have to say: Solid colors only.

Bow Holders!

I posted Bow Holders to the website tonight! I meant to do it a long time ago, but I can only take pictures of the product during the day (the flash ruins pictures) and of course I'd remember that I wanted to take pictures at 10pm...better late than never?
I had my third craft show this past Friday. It was a very exciting day. I was the only one selling bows! I estimated that I sold about 130 bows that day. I also sold two bow holders. I don't have any more craft shows planned, so I can take a little time away from bows and focus on Christmas....decorating, wrapping presents, eating--I mean, making cookies... :o)

Well, I had my second craft show this weekend. It was a fund raiser to send gift packages to local soldiers stationed abroad for Christmas. I didn't make a whole lot of money after paying for the table, buying lunch (pumpkin cookies--yum!) and buying raffle tickets (didn't win anything). But, it was for a good cause. I have another craft show coming up on December 4th. I hear that it's a big one. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
So...while at the craft show on Saturday, a woman walked into the room holding a baby girl in a sling. This baby was about 9 months old and had a ton of hair! In her hair was a scarlet and gray knot bow. I did a double take and said to my friend, "That's my bow! On a stranger!" How cool is that?! My bow was on a stranger! It turns out that the woman had placed an order a few weeks before after hearing about me through a mutual friend (thanks, Wende!) and after receiving an email from me last week, she came to the craft show for more bows. Thanks, Shelley! :o)
I'll let y'all know how the next craft show goes....

Purple and Brown--Very Cute

I made this knot bow (Brown bow with Light Purple knot) to match dresses that I have for the girls. The dresses are light purple with tiny brown dots all over...seriously adorable! The bow came out really cute...so cute that I sold two last night!

Halloween Bows Are Here!!!

Halloween is just around the corner, let your girls be festive! The new Halloween line is super cute, if I do say so myself. The Candy Corn Wide Bow might be my favorite...or the Spider Web...or the clips with buttons...I love them all!
I'm currently collecting Christmas ribbon and embellishments. Hopefully I'll have the Christmas line posted in the next few weeks. I looked for Thanksgiving ribbon, but didn't find anything that I loved. Unless that changes, there will be no Thanksgiving line this year.

On a side note: I have gray ribbon for the knot bows! All of you Columbus moms: get your Scarlet and Gray bows here!! Gray bow with Red knot, or Red bow with Gray knot. Either way, show your OSU spirit! I'm on the lookout for ribbon with the Block O on it. I'll be sure to let you know when I find it. :o)

I've had a whopping FOUR online orders...three of them were this week! How exciting!!! :o)

Home, Sweet Home

I tried posting a few days ago, it wouldn't work, I got irritated and went to bed...
We're home! We had a great visit with family and the 11.5 hour drive wasn't so bad either. We drove over night so the kids would sleep (they did, mostly). Mom and I were exhausted by the time we arrived, but had we driven during the day, Aleena would have screamed her head off in protest. She's not a fan of the car for extended periods of time.
I brought my bows with me on my travels. I got a bunch made...not as many as I'd hoped, but with all the visiting and trying to keep the kids out of trouble in a non-baby proofed house, I was tired at the end of the day! :o)
Bring on the orders! I'm home to fill them! :o)

Road Trip!

The girls and I are back in Michigan visiting family and friends. My mom and I are taking the girls to Massachusetts for a week or so to visit our extended family. We're DRIVING! (With a 2 year old and a 6 month old--cross your fingers for us!) We're leaving Wednesday night and driving through the night...we hope to arrive at my grandmother's house around breakfast time on Thursday. Hopefully the girls sleep in the car all night. Driving through the day would require more stops for Ellie to potty and Aleena to eat. It's an eleven hour drive. Yikes.
Anyhoo...While in Massachusetts, I'll have (very) limited internet access, so any orders placed from now until July 12th won't be shipped until the week of the 13th. Sorry in advance for the delay.

Night Out

I went out with my fellow mom friends last night. Several of them are really big into scrap booking and planned a night out at a local scrapbook store. I have a scrapbook for the dogs that I started when Odie was a puppy. I figured I'd go for a little while, create a dog page and socialize a little.

The scrapbook store was amazing! It almost makes me want to start scrapbooks for the girls. Almost. I wandered the store a bit and found some GREAT embellishments for bows! I made a few bows while I was there and they are SO CUTE!

We're going to visit some friends for dinner tonight. I think Aleena will be wearing one of the new bows as it matches one of her outfits perfectly. Eventually, I'll get the new designs on the website so you can buy them. Oh, how I love bows...

Girls Rule

A friend of mine had a baby girl this afternoon! Congratulations to Christina and her husband Terry! I'm really excited to have another bow model! :o)

I've been a bow making fool the past few days. I didn't realize how many I had been selling until I saw how sad my stock was. I love making bows. I took today off to get some housework done--really, who needs clean floors?! Ellie helped me. She loves using the little vacuum on the hardwood floors. Aleena laughed at her from the baby swing. We had a good day. Side story: Ellie likes to pick out her own bows. Today she was wearing a blue shirt, orange shorts and a brown with pink dot bow. Seriously?! I fought the urge all day to pull it out and replace it with an orange one. And yes, we went out in public like that. I'm choosing to save my battles for when she's throwing sand or climbing on the dog. Aleena's bows will match her outfit because she doesn't know that she has an opinion yet.

I'm working on a slide show to show off the cuties who are sporting my bows. I'm having a little trouble with the slide show displaying the newer pictures that I've added...I'll try again tomorrow.

Home, Sweet Home!

We're back from vacation....vacations are wonderful. What's more wonderful is coming home to a comfy bed and a comfy pillow and a shower with water pressure! Really, we had a GREAT time at the beach and the pool. We visited the Virgina Aquarium and got to see an octopus. I don't think I've ever seen a live one up close before...man, are they unattractive creatures.

Upon my return, I checked my email and was greeted with my first ever online order! (Thanks, Amanda! http://www.foryourpeanut.com/).

I spent my evening last night and nap time today making bows. Ah, how I love bows.

I'll leave you with an octopus. :o)

Update...it's been a while...

Wow, how did it get to be June already? I've been busy making bows, I've been selling a lot to friends and friends of friends. No strangers yet. Someday...
We're taking our first family vacation next week...a week at the beach. Wish us luck. Needless to say, I won't be making any bows next week...or this week as I'll be cleaning, doing laundry and packing all week.

Help for Baby Fine Hair!!

I found a way to add some "grip" to my bows! You know that rubber non-slip shelf liner? Well, cut into tiny small strips, it grips fine hair and keeps bows from sliding out! Pretty neat! My Ellie, with all of her curls, doesn't need the extra grip, but the little piece of rubber keeps the bows in the baby's hair!

Tomorrow night, I'm going to a scrap booking Moms Night Out...I don't really scrapbook a whole lot (I started a scrapbook for the dogs, but I'm not doing one for the kids--who has time for that?!), but my friend said that people bring all kinds of crafts to work on and she suggested that I bring my bows. What a great idea. I'll get a few hours of uninterrupted bow making. No email to be checked...no laundry to fold...I'm excited!!

Only one person took advantage of the Tax Day special promotion. Bella is going to look super cute sporting her new Sweetie Pie Bows!!

Happy Birthday, Audrey

I'm leaving in the morning. The girls and I are going to MI...my husband will join us on Saturday. My niece's third birthday party is Saturday afternoon. I can't believe she's three! I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. My SIL was induced on April 12th...I paced all day in my classroom (I was a kindergarten teacher in my former life). I called my MIL every chance I got for an update. All day, I waited and waited, I was a nervous wreck! I have no idea why...I didn't have kids yet, so I didn't know the agony first hand...oh, but the WAITING! I'm bad at waiting. All evening, I paced...we went to bed with no news. Finally, just after midnight on Thursday, April 13, 2006, Audrey Anne graced our family with her presence....11 months later, my Ellie was born....15 months after that, my niece Leah came along and in another 6 months, Aleena joined us. Four girls...when we all get together, it's loud. And fun. I'm excited for this weekend.

Another great thing about being in MI, I have time to make bows after the girls go to bed. When I'm at home, there are a million other things that I "have" to do. So, I'm bringing my big box of supplies that will clutter my parents' kitchen (Mom will love that!) and I'll hopefully get a bunch of bows done in the next few days. Of course, Audrey will be getting more bows as part of her birthday gift...

Baby Hair

I tried to put a bow in Aleena's hair (3 months old). The clip is tight enough to clip to a few longer hairs, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't too comfy for Aleena. I have made several small snap clips that will stay in her hair (notice, Aleena is wearing a bow in the pictures I posted yesterday) but the snap clips are very stiff and it's tricky to put the clip in her hair without pressing too hard on her little head. I'm not very happy with these particular snap clips and will not be selling tiny clips until I find one that I like. Rest assured that I'll keep looking...I'm sure I'm not the only mommy who gets irritated when a stranger says "Oh, isn't HE cute!" Hello, she's wearing pink!

The girls and I were out doing errands this morning and the cashier at the store just loved Ellie's bow (proud moment for me)! Ellie was wearing a Knot Bow, Pink with Purple and White Polka Dot bow and White knot.

Here are the pictures that I had taken earlier this week by Ruby Red Photo (http://www.rubyredphoto.com/) in Delaware, OH. Joy and Dave Holman are brilliant with the camera, backgrounds and props. The one of Ellie with the tutu...her dress is yellow and the tutu is white and gold...doesn't match at all, but she wanted to wear it...Dave took the picture anyway and it looks GREAT in black and white!

You probably noticed the new picture I have at the top of my page, that's my Ellie wearing the Knot Bows in her pigtails (bow: Light Blue with white Dots, knot: White). That picture was also taken by Ruby Red photo.

I brought the girls to the mall to see the Easter Bunny this morning. Aleena was perfectly happy to sit on the bunny's lap, but Ellie was very unsure. I got her on the bench, but she sat as far away from the bunny as possible. I think it's pretty funny! I get Easter Bunny and Santa pictures taken for the memories, not at all expecting a great photo. For the great photo, I go to Ruby Red. Enjoy!

Up and Running!

Woo hoo! I have a shopping cart! I added PayPal buttons to my site tonight. Unfortunately (or fortunately, however you want to look at it) I have too many ribbon choices for a drop down menu, so you (the buyer) will have to manually enter the bow color and the knot color. I was able to make a drop down for the embellishment options, just not the ribbon. I don't think it's too confusing...time will tell.
Anyone who reads this and places and order before April 15, 2009 can have a free Knot Bow with the purchase of three additional bows. Tell me the colors you want for your free bow in the "special instructions" section during the check-out process. Be sure to include the BOW color and the KNOT color or I'll have to make one up for you!

You've probably noticed the new pictures on my page. I'm getting it ready for when I figure out how to add PayPal buttons. In the next few days I'll also be adding the 3/8" ribbon color options as well as the 5/8" patterns for the wide bows. I don't get a whole lot done during the day with this sweet baby smiling at me. Someday she'll be on a regular nap schedule...I hope! :o)

Ok, this is taking a little longer than I'd hoped. I opened a new bank account to link to PayPal...I can't access my account online until I get some papers from the bank...so THEN I'll be able to post shopping cart buttons on my site.
The girls are getting their picture taken tomorrow (Ruby Red Photography--they're GREAT! http://www.rubyredphoto.com/). Ellie's 2 year and Aleena's 3 month picture. I'm hoping to get at least one good picture of the two of them together...wish me luck! Anyway, I made bows to match their outfits. Hopefully their disposition matches their super cute attire in the morning! :o)

First Sale!

I sold two bows tonight! It was to my sister in law, but a sale is a sale, right? She bought the bows as a gift for a friend, one brown bow (since brown is a hot color for little girls' clothes these days) and one of the bright pink with the pink butterfly embellishment on it (that's my favorite). Exciting, isn't it?!

Up and at 'em

Yesterday morning, Aleena woke up at 5:30 to eat. Right after she was done, Ellie woke up screaming....bad dream about a cracker...the night before it was about going bye-bye in the car and the night before that is was about the ice cream being all gone...I digress...
So I put Ellie back to bed and realized that I was wide awake. By then it was 6am. So I just got up. I showered and got ready for my day then I made bows. It was so quiet and peaceful. I was ALONE!!!
I got 10 bows done before Ellie woke up for the day...I got to play with my fun new ribbon. The new bows are really cute (if I do say so myself).
I'm hoping to talk my brother in to helping with the website today. Hopefully the kids cooperate too...

What's Left....

The girls and I are spending the weekend in MI with my parents...ahem, with my computer genius brother, who, I'm sure--when he's not playing with his adorable nieces (with bows in their hair!)--will help me get this website buyer-ready much faster than I could on my own.
Here is what I have left to do to finish the website: import the paypal buttons and whatever else that entails....and put up a slide show or something so you can all see all of the ribbon colors I have available. There are a LOT to choose from. Ellie and I went shopping again this morning and I got a bunch of new colors and funky patterns. This is so exciting!
Amanda (http://www.foryourpeanut.com/) told me about a craft show that will be in December. How fun would that be?! I hope to have a good stock built up by then...I have about 9 months...it's not like I have anything better to do right? Did I mention that aside from having two babies, I also have three dogs? My house is a zoo...

Here are some pictures of the bows I've made in the past few days. I have many more ribbon colors and a few more embellishments that I haven't tried out yet. I will sell the bows for $2-$5 depending on the embellishment.

I really enjoy making the bows and I love seeing my daughter and nieces wearing them! I can't wait to see little girls all over Columbus wearing my bows!
